How can we create projects that balance creativity and rigor? In what ways do these two seemingly contradictory elements support and complement one another? In this experiential, interactive full day workshop, intended for teachers with previous experience using project-based learning, we will investigate these questions and more. Participants will explore how to incorporate sustained inquiry, student voice and choice, and writing development into project based curriculum, in order to develop both rigor and creativity simultaneously. Activities include: developing driving questions and using them to spur student-led inquiry, a stations activity about types of student voice and choice, and the drafting of a project plan for implementation. Participants will also have the opportunity to give and receive feedback on their drafts.
